Call for papers

Scope

Education is the cornerstone of any society and it is the basis of most of the values and characteristics of that society. Knowledge societies offer significant opportunities for new techniques and applications, especially in the fields of education and learning. Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) provides knowledge processing technologies to support learning activities in knowledge societies. The role of intelligent systems, rooted in artificial intelligence, has become increasingly relevant to shape TEL for knowledge societies.

The MIS4TEL conference will build on the experience matured within a series of evidence based TEL workshops: ebTELebuTEL & iTEL. This 4th edition expands the topics of the evidence based TEL workshop series in order to provide an open forum for discussing intelligent systems for TEL and empirical methodologies for their design or evaluation. It intends to bring together researchers and developers from industry and the academic world to report on the latest scientific research, technical advances and methodologies.

MIS4TEL 2014 will be held in Salamanca (Spain) on June 4th-6th, 2014, in parallel with the PAAMS'14 International Conference.

Submission Details

We invite the submission of papers (max. 8 pages in Springer format) reporting original research, not previously published, relevant to the MIS4TEL themes. In order to submit your contribution you can use Easychair: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mis4tel2014

All submissions will be carefully reviewed by an international program committee. All submitted papers will undergo a thorough review process: each paper will be refereed by at least two experts in the field based on relevance, originality, significance, quality and clarity.

The proceedings of the previous editions of ebuTEL are available via Springer at:

Special Issue:

neurocomputing

Authors of selected papers from PAAMS 2014 and its collocated events (including mis4TEL) will be invited to submit an extended and improved version to a special issue published in Neurocomputing (JCR Impact Factor: 1.634).
The contributions of mis4TEL can be invited to this special issue if they are related with the journal's topic (neural networks and learning systems).

Presentation and Publication

All the accepted papers will be presented during the conference and published by Springer in the Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing series. At least one of the authors will be required to register for the MIS4TEL in order to present the paper and have it included in the proceedings. MIS4TEL also foresees keynote presentations by experts in the TEL area.
